2018, May 22 and 23 - PSLoop General Assemblies

The PolyStyreneLoop Cooperative gathered on May 22, 2018 in Brussels, for its bi-annual General Assembly. The companies Molpoly, Wibro Brohlburg, Lippstädter Hartschaumverarbeitung and Suez were introduced as new Cooperative members, rising the membership to 60 organisations from 14 different countries.

The Open General Assembly, which was held the day after, May 23, was open to all interested stakeholders in the PS-value chain. Guests were welcomed by Jan Noordegraaf and Lein Tange of PolyStyreneLoop, who updated participants on the rapid progress of the PolyStyreneLoop, recycling initiative.

The high-level presentations by Plastics Recycle Europe, EUMEPS, PlasticsEurope, Total, Versalis and Mr. Dancet, former executive director of ECHA all emphasised the importance of PolyStyreneLoop. The endorsement for PolyStyreneLoop was also received by senior representatives of the European Commission. Timoteo de la Fuente, Policy Officer for Chemicals from the European Commission DG Grow (Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), spoke about the Pledging Campaign and called on all to submit their pledge to reach the target of 10 million tons of recycled plastics to be used in new products on the EU market by 2025. Aurelio Politano, Senior Project Advisor from EASME (the European Commission’s Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Entreprises , described PolyStyreneLoop as “well-structured and well-developed” as well as ambitious.
